Take Part In Archives Week


Archives Week 1999 is being held October 10-16 and a number of repositories are hosting activities which are open to the public.

The week is sponsored by the New York State Documentary Heritage Program and is administered locally by the North Country Reference and Research Resources Council.

A number of Archives Week activities are being held:

  • "Special Features of Clarkson University History," from 8:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily on Oct. 10-13 at the Educational Resource Center at Clarkson University in Potsdam.
  • "SUNY Potsdam's Past; Recounting and Documenting" at 4:30 p.m. on Oct. 14 at the F.W. Crumb Memorial Library at SUNY Potsdam.
  • "Remembering Trout Lake: The Legends, The Truth and The Fiction" at 2 p.m. on Oct. 10 at the McBrier Park Manor in Hermon.
  • "Family History, Our Ancestors" on Oct. 10-15 at the Hopkinton Museum, Church Street, Hopkinton.
  • "Welcome To Our Family" from 2 to 4 p.m. on Oct. 15 at the SLCHA Archives, Main Street, Canton.
  • "Treasures in City Hall" from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Oct. 14 at the City Historian's Office, 245 Washington St., Watertown.
  • A history unit will be hosted from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Oct. 11-15 at the Constableville Village Library.
  • "Preserving the History of the Town of Croghan" from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Oct. 12, 14 and 15 at the Croghan Town Clerk's Office, Route 126.
  • "Research Your Family History at the Library" from noon to 3 p.m. on Oct. 9 at the Pulaski Public Library, 4917 Jefferson Street.
  • "History of Parish" from noon to 5 p.m. on Oct. 16 at the Parish Public Library.
  • "Now What Do I Do With It?" from noon to 3 p.m. on Oct. 23 at the Pulaski Historical Society, 3428 Maple Avenue.
  • "Fifth Grade and Giant Mountain" during library hours from Oct. 11-22 at the Keene Valley Library.
  • "This Place We Live" on Oct. 14-16 at the Hancock House Program Room, Moses Circle, Ticonderoga.
  • "A Visit With Lydia" from 1-4 p.m. on Oct. 16 at Paul Smith's Frank Cubley Library and Museum.
