Opportunities Are Provided Through Workshops
This year's spring workshop schedule provided a variety of opportunities for North Country library staff. Forty-nine people took advantage of the chance to learn Microsoft Office over a period of three days in Plattsburgh and two days in Canton.

People attending the workshops noted how much they felt they had accomplished and how pleased they were for the hands-on instruction and practice the workshops provided. The Excel workshop in particular seemed to shed light on a formerly murky process. Comments included, "...excellent ...material was very clear and easy to master" and "wonderful speaker." The Council will be offering this series again this fall, so watch your mail for announcements.

Other spring workshops included training for the Health Reference Center, the first of the New York State Library's Statewide Database Project. Forty people received training in this resource, and agreed in the process to be responsible for training other staff in their libraries.

Summer's continuing education got an early start on June 11 with a workshop on the techniques of making one's website interactive, and with a Documentary Heritage Program workshop on June 18 and Regional Documentary Heritage Program Roundtables on June 23, 26 and 28. July returns the schedule to technology with workshops on web design and advanced Internet use on the 8th and 9th, respectively.

For details on these and other programs, watch your mail and e-mail, and check the calendar on the North Country Reference & Research Resources Council web page at: www.nc3r.org/calendar
