Clinton-Essex Roundtable Set For Champlain

CHAMPLAIN - As the grass turns green and warmer temperatures fill the air, it means it’s time to mark those calendars for the upcoming spring Regional Roundtable.

Regional Roundtables are sponsored by the Northern New York Library Network (NNYLN) based out of Potsdam, in conjunction with the Documentary Heritage Program.

The Clinton-Essex Counties Spring Regional Roundtable will be held Saturday, May 10, 2008 at the Samuel de Champlain History Center in Champlain. The topic of discussion will be "Interpretive Use of Collections" and will run from 9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. The presenters will be John Krueger, Kent-DeLord House Museum; and Don Papson, North Country Underground Railroad Historical Association. The moderator will be Virginia Westbrook, Historian and Exhibition Consultant, The Virginia Company, Crown Point.

The discussion will focus on interpreting historic materials. Each presenter will offer an example of a historic document, a photograph and an artifact from their collection and discuss how they are used to "tell the story." A tour of the History Center will part of the day, and lunch will be provided at the end of the Roundtable.

There is no fee to attend the Roundtable, but advance registration through the NNYLN is required. To sign-up, contact the Network at 315-265-1119, or sign-up online at www.nnyln.org and click on "Classes & Facilities."
