Spring Roundtables Are SetBefore we know it robins will be bopping around, and the trees will be budding with the first signs of spring. This also means it’s time to mark those calendars for the upcoming spring Regional Roundtables. The Jefferson-Lewis-Oswego Roundtable will be held from 9:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. on April 1, 2006 at the Handweaving Museum & Arts Center, 314 John St., Clayton. Topics of discussion will be "Raising the Level of Awareness of the History of an Area: Promotion & Press Releases," and "Fundraising, Public Involvement, & Volunteers." The discussion leaders are Tom Guignard, WWNY Channel 7 & Lewis County Historical Society Board, and Lisa Becker, Lewis County Historical Society Director. Participants are asked to bring their address books with them. The day will also include an overview of the Museum. There will be an $8.00 fee for lunch, which is to be paid directly to the LCHS. The Clinton-Essex Roundtable will be held from 9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. on May 6, 2006 in Special Collections at the Feinberg Library at SUNY Plattsburgh. The topic is "Planning, Organizing and Finding Space." The discussion will focus on reorganizing current spaces, finding adequate space, and looking at space in a new way. It will address storage spaces, work areas and public spaces. The discussion will include security and storage needs for archival collections. Everyone is encouraged to bring questions and to share their ideas for organizing their space. The facilitator will be DHP Consultant Joe Swinyer. There is no fee to attend. The discussion topic will be "Developing Membership & Friends Groups." Attendees will discuss why people join organizations, how to entice them to join, how to manage membership records, and membership rates and benefits. Everyone will be able to share their experiences of what has worked for them in the past - either as a member of an organization or from the organization's perspective. There is no fee to attend.
