Get Down And Dirty With Disaster RecoveryBreak out those old jeans, sneakers/boots, and shirts and get ready to have a fun- filled day of hands-on learning. The NNY Library Network is pleased to announce it will be holding the workshop "Disaster Recovery: First Aid for Damaged Materials" on June 9, 2005. The class will be instructed by Donia Conn of Syracuse University. The day will consist of sign-in from 9:00-9:30 a.m., with class time running from 9:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. The class will be held in the Potsdam/Canton area, as the exact location has not yet been determined. The cost is $15.00 for library and archives staff, $59.95 for all others (includes lunch.) During this program, participants will learn what can be done immediately following a disaster - the things that can be done by staff and volunteers who are not experts is disaster recovery, and the things that should be done immediately. Learn how to deal with fire/water damaged materials of all kinds. Students will get hands-on experience in "first-aid" treatment of damaged materials. And yes, we’re serious, those planning on attending this workshop should be sure to wear comfortable clothes, and be sure they are clothes you don’t mind getting dirty. |
