All Three Disaster Depots Are Fully Stocked
This sign appears on the door of each Disaster Depot. Should Mother Nature or another form of unfortunate disaster occur, libraries and repositories can rest assured that the NNYLN Regional Disaster Supply Depots are fully stocked and available for use. The depots are provided by the NNY Library Network with funding from the NY State Program for the Conservation and Preservation of Library Research Materials. The three depots are located in the following areas: in the Western Region - SUNY College at Oswego, Penfield Library, Room 7A (off general storage, near Special Collections); Central Region - St. Lawrence University, Owen D. Young Library, Park Street, Canton, located in Room 103 of Herring-Cole; Eastern Region - SUNY at Plattsburg, Benjamin F. Feinberg Library, 2 Draper Avenue (in the back of the library off the loading dock). The Network’s Regional Disaster Supply Depots are available for use by any library, archives, historical documents repository, museum, or other cultural entity in the North Country. Once supplies have been taken from the Regional Supply Depots, it is the responsibility of the borrowing institution to replace materials at its own expense in a timely manner. It is important that individual institutions replenish supplies at the regional depots as quickly as possible, because another emergency situation could occur in the region at any time. All libraries and repositories are encouraged to have a disaster preparedness plan completed and kept up to date. "In the Face of Disaster: Preparing for Emergencies in the North Country," a self-planning manual for disaster prevention, response, and recovery, in the libraries, archives, museums and cultural institutions of Northern New York State is available at the NNYLN’s website at www.nnyln.org, and can be found by clicking on "Publications."
