
Roundtables Open To AllThe robins have returned to the North Country and the green sprouts of flowers are peeking through the ground - which means it’s time to mark your calendar for the spring Roundtables! The Jefferson-Oswego-Lewis Roundtable will be held from 9:30 a.m. to noon on May 3, 2003 at the Antique Boat Museum, 715 Mary Street, Clayton. The discussion topic of the day is "Increasing Local Financial Support: Programs, Events, Attendance, Membership and Financial Gifts," and will be lead by Jefferson County Historical Society Executive Director Fred Rollins. The discussion will focus on ways to increase financial involvement in our organizations by local people. The focus will be on programs, events, usage of facilities and grounds, generating new members, and gifts of money. The day will also include a special guided tour of the new Antique Boat Museum. The Clinton-Essex Roundtable will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on May 10, 2003 at the Chazy Town Historian’s Office, 9631 Route 9, Chazy. The discussion topic will be "How to Cultivate Potential Donors," and will be presented by Joe Swinyer and Mooers Town Historian Carol Nedeau. The hostess for the day is Marie Gennett, retired Chazy town historian. There will be a tour of the Historian’s collection, which will remain open until 2:00 p.m. for additional perusal. The Franklin-St. Lawrence Roundtable will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on May 24, 2003 at the St. Lawrence County Historical Association, 3 East Main Street, Canton. The discussion topic will be "Working Effectively with Boards," and will be lead by retired Chazy Town Historian Marie Gennett and her husband, Leon, who was a volunteer. The discussion will focus on how to work effectively with boards. What are the duties and responsibilities of the board? How do you make a distinction between the work of the board and the work of volunteers and staff? There will also be a tour of the Historical Association.
