Mark Your Calendar...Wednesday, October 8, 2008 - Lessons for Scanning, Part 2: "Cataloging Information (Metadata); Intermediate Scanning: Storage & Display Options" will be held from 9:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. at the NNYLN in Potsdam. The fee is $15.00 for library, museum, and historical society staff; and $59.95 for all others. Lunch is included. Thursday, October 9 & Thursday, October 23, 2008 - "Internet Access to Historical Records" will be held in two locations from 9:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. On Oct. 9 it will be at the Clinton-Essex-Franklin Library System in Plattsburgh, and on Oct. 23 at the North Country Library System in Watertown. There is no fee to attend. Monday, March 16 & Tuesday, March 17, 2009 - "Managing Your Historical Photographs" will be held on March 16 at the North Country Library System in Watertown, and on March 17 at the Clinton-Essex-Franklin Library System in Plattsburgh. Archival Directory 2009-2011Updates are being made for the 2009-2011 edition of the "Directory of Archival & Historical Document Collections." A mailing is slated to go out in early October 2008 to all institutions currently listed in the document asking for their assistance in updating the document. Any institution not listed, but would like to be, is asked to send their organization’s name, complete mailing address, contact name and position, business hours, collection information, and restrictions to the Northern New York Library Network. If the repository has an email address and/or website they would like included, please send that information as well. The entire Archival Directory is kept up-to-date and is available online. The 2009-2011 edition is expected to be mailed in early 2009.
