
Fall Roundtables Are SetDocumentary Heritage Program Regional Roundtables. The Clinton-Essex Roundtable will be held on Sept. 28 at the Penfield Foundation (Homestead Museum), RR 1, Box 126, County Route 2 in Crown Point. The event will run from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., and lunch will be served on-site. The topic for the day will be "Displaying or Exhibiting Historical Records," and Director/Curator John Tomkins of the Clinton County Historical Association will facilitate the discussion. There will also be a DHP update by Joe Swinyer and an opportunity to tour the Homestead Museum. Participants are encouraged to bring details regarding their ideas for potential uses of documents for public display to share during the group discussion. The event will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The topic of discussion is "Gifts: Assets or Liabilities?" The roundtable will be followed by a special tour of the Railway Museum, usually open only by appointment. Covington Reading Center and Museum, Route 37 in Ft. Covington. The event will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., and participants will be on their own for lunch. The topic of discussion is "Increasing Local Support - Donations of Historical Documents, Attendance, Membership, and Money." Discussion will focus on ways to increase involvement in our organizations by local people. This support could come in the form of donations of historical documents, usage of facilities, new members, or gifts of money. Bring your own views and questions to the roundtable about how we can get more from that scarce resource - people. There will also be a discussion as to when to hold the next roundtable in St. Lawrence County, and possible topics for the event. There will be a tour of the Ft. Covington Reading Center & Museum.
